When to they take the holiday lights down. We want to see all the lights and holiday cheer but cannot make it to WDW until after the first of the year.

    Hi Michelle,

I can understand why you want to see the decorations and lights, they are amazing! The Christmas holiday season is our absolute favorite time at Disney World as the decorations, lights and special events are magnificent.

While the process of decorating and even un-decorating keeps Mickey and Santa's elves busy for a while, they usually like to have the decorations up and the majority of them on just before Thanksgiving. The decorations then stay on until right after New Year's. I have not seen any official word on dates, but looking at the calendar, New Year's falls on a Friday this year. I would think it is safe to say they will be on until at least that weekend, January 3rd. A few may still be up the following few days or week but I would not plan on it.

Hope you are able to make it there in time to enjoy!
