Welcome back to planDisney, Brena! I'm so happy to get the chance to help you with your upcoming beach trip. Soon you'll be living on island time!
Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort is just one of a few Disney resorts not located near a Disney park. However, with its laid-back vibe, it's one of my favorite places! You'll be able to enjoy nature walks, biking, kayaking, and leisurely strolls on the beach (there is a free shuttle service to the nearby Beach House). The setting is lovely since the resort is set amongst mature live oak trees and overlooks the Lowcountry marshes of Broad Creek.
I spoke with the front desk today, and they confirmed that Mickey's pal Pluto makes appearances 2-3 times a week. Currently, he is the only character who visits the resort. One thing you'll notice, though, is that the Cast Members definitely provide that Disney magic! They lead guests in
daily activities, including singing around the campfire, Mickey Tie Dying, Goofy Bingo, and there is even an Animation Academy in the Community Hall (activities vary per week and are subject to change)! You can call the front desk directly if you have specific inquiries at (843) 341-4100.
We like to go to
Tide Me Over, a quick service location serving Dole Whips!
Signals is the other quick service spot located at Disney's Beach House, and they have the iconic refillable mugs. You can walk off property to the Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina for table-service dining. My family enjoys ELA'S On the Water, San Miguel's Mexican Cafe, and The French Bakery. If you plan to use the kitchen space in your villa, I recommend stopping at the nearby roadside stand named Barnacle Bill's for fresh seafood. If you have a car, make some time to visit the Harbour Town Lighthouse.
I hope you have fun making magical memories with your granddaughter, Brena!
