Hi ya, Jessica! We're so happy to see you here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Even though Dory says, "The best things happen by chance," I think you're smart to plan out your day at
Epcot.
How excited are you to swim with over 6,000 sea creatures, including sea turtles, angelfish, eagle rays, and sharks?! Don't worry about being shark bait (hoo haha), since they stay on the bottom of the 5.7 million gallon tank. The environment is very safe, and all of the sea life is extremely well fed and cared for. The supplied-air snorkel system is simple to use, and the equipment keeps you buoyant, so it is easy to float on top of the water.
The
Epcot Seas Adventures – Aqua Tour lasts 2.5 hours, and you will spend approximately 30 minutes of that time swimming in the Caribbean Coral Reef aquarium (did you know that until 2005, this was the largest saltwater tank in the world?). The first part of the experience lasts for about 45 minutes, and it is mostly spent on questions, safety training, and getting into your gear (all snorkeling equipment is provided, but remember to bring a swimsuit). I'd aim to get a 1:15 or 1:30 PM reservation for grandma and the kids at
Coral Reef Restaurant (tell them to save room for the delicious Chocolate Wave dessert and to look for the Hidden Mickey in the tank). After your adventure, you will be able to dry off and change. There are also showers and toiletries available for your use if you want to shower off, too.
I hope your trip goes swimmingly well, Jessica! See ya' real soon!
