A heartfelt welcome (back) to planDisney, Valerie! I'm so excited to see a question from a fellow Washingtonian here, and it'll be my pleasure to share some guidance with you as you continue planning your next visit to Disneyland Resort.
Oh, bother! I'm sorry to report that Blue Bayou Restaurant will temporarily close for refurbishment beginning January 7, 2024. You can find information and the anticipated schedules for these types of refurbishments on the Hours & Event Calendar on the official Disneyland Resort website. I know this must be disappointing news, but I hope we can brainstorm some alternatives that will be just as magical!
If you've still got 'a rumbly in your tumbly' for Creole and Cajun-inspired flavors, perhaps you'd like to visit the newly opened Tiana's Palace. It is a quick-service dining location that does not require advanced reservations and you can also opt to use mobile ordering for even faster service! Cafe Orleans is another wonderful option in New Orleans Square, and I frequently find myself dreaming about those Pommes Frites and Cajun spice rémoulade! Advanced dining reservations are recommended for this location, up to 60 days before your visit.
If you're looking for an elevated, signature dining experience, I have two recommendations. One of my favorite dining experiences at Disneyland Resort is at Napa Rose, in Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. It is quintessential, yet modernized California cuisine, and I think selecting their prix fixe Vintner's Menu is a really special way to experience the best of the menu. Another wonderful option is Carthay Circle inside Disney California Adventure Park. The architecture and decor in the dining room are a lovely celebration of classic Hollywood, along with a menu of food and beverages that capture the spirit of the era. For a more relaxed atmosphere, you can make a dining reservation for Carthay Circle Lounge - Alfresco Dining which has its own unique menu, distinct from the regular dining room.
Now, Valerie, I want to get back to your question about what time you can join the mobile dine walk-up availability list at select dining locations around the Disneyland Resort. Typically, I would recommend arriving at your preferred dining location 15-30 minutes prior to opening hours and scanning the QR code at the reception kiosk to access the walk-up availability. You can also kindly inquire with a Cast Member if they have any guidance around joining the walk-up list at that time, as the schedules may differ by dining location.
I hope this is some useful insight, Valerie. Most of all, I wish you an unforgettable journey full of wonderful, magical, memories! Please come on back to planDisney if we can share any other recommendations or ideas for maximizing your next visit. We love helping our fellow Guests plan their favorite day in 'The Happiest Place on Earth!'
Warm wishes,
Tishra
