Hi, We are going to WDW August 27 (arriving late) to Sept 3rd. I've read that this is "low season" but it is attached to a long weekend. Can you suggest which parks to head to? Our resort is at AK. My kids will be 3 and 6.

    Hello, Lisa!

You are correct that late August through September has historically been a slower time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort with smaller crowd sizes, but with all of the recent and ongoing changes, I'm not sure how accurately we can predict the circumstances surrounding that particular week next year. I have visited Walt Disney World on Labor Day weekend before with very manageable crowd levels, but I have also visited in mid-September, where crowd sizes were much larger than predicted (just this year).

Because it is nearly impossible to predict crowd levels this far in advance with all of the changes happening to the Walt Disney World Resort hotels and theme parks, I would like to recommend that you choose the theme parks that your family has the most interest in. Try not to worry so much about the crowd levels -- you will have an easier time planning if you focus on creating magical memories with your family at the theme parks.

It sounds like you are planning a nice, long end-of-summer vacation. You should have more than enough time to spend at least one day at each of the four theme parks, and then revisit your favorites. If you choose to visit only two theme parks, I'd recommend Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot for your young children. These two parks are my six-year-old daughter's favorites, as they offer the most variety in all-ages rides and attractions that appeal to the preschool crowd. If you can add in another park, I'd suggest Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This wild theme park offers excellent live entertainment and unique dining opportunities that are sure to please adventurous little ones.

I hope you and your family make many magical memories on your Walt Disney World vacation, Lisa! Please don't hesitate to stop back by the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have any more questions. We would love to hEAR from you!
