Hi! We have visited Disney World 4 times, and have always stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Villa's. We are visiting again soon, and would like to stay at Old Key West Villa. How would you rate it? Thanks!

    Hi Lane!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You are asking about two of the resorts my family has enjoyed, so I was excited to see your question!

I often tell families that there is no “best” resort at Walt Disney World, but that it is all about finding which resort is the right fit for your family and what you are looking for.  My family really enjoyed our stay at the Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.  I found the rustic cabin charm of the decor cozy and inviting, while my children and husband loved the water taxi service to the Magic Kingdom and nightly view of the Electrical Water Pageant. Another advantage of the Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is that the Villas are very close to the main lodge.  It is only a short walk from the Villas to the lobby, and all that is offered there such as dining and shopping.

Disney’s Old Key West Resort is much larger, and the villas are spread in multiple buildings across the resort. I think this leads to a quieter atmosphere and more relaxed pace. I really enjoy the Old Florida feel of the resort. Because the resort is spread out, there are multiple bus stops however, and you may have a little bit of a walk to get to the feature pool or to dining and shopping. What I loved about Disney’s Old Key West was the value and size of the rooms. The rooms are the largest villas on Walt Disney World property at this time. If you will have your own vehicle, parking is very conveniently located right outside each building. My family also enjoyed taking the water taxi from Disney’s Old Key West to Downtown Disney for a day of shopping and dining.

I hope this helps you decide which of these two beautiful resorts your family would enjoy for your next Walt Disney World Vacation. I am a believer in trying them all!

    Have a Disney Day!
