Hot dog! Welcome back to planDisney, Dana! It's so good to have you here. I have friends that live up in Minnesota and it's an absolutely beautiful place. I visited in April a few years ago and it was still quite a bit chilly, so I can only imagine what real winter must be like up that way. I'm glad you're planning for your annual trip down to the sunnier stretches of central Florida. Your furry friends are welcome at The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, so let's take a look at the pet policies to answer your question.
The Cabins at Ft. Wilderness have been recently updated, and I have loved seeing the revamped structures and all the new details that are inside. Even though this is now a Disney Vacation Club resort, all guests are able to book a cabin for their stay in the magic. If you visit the resort home page and scroll about halfway down, you'll see the "Dog-Friendly Accommodations" heading. This has information about how to book, and also provides a link to the
Pet Policies document.
You will have no problem bringing your two dogs along, but there is a stipulation in the policies that says they "should not disrupt the quiet enjoyment of other guests." The resort reserves the right to ask you to board your pets if there is a disturbance or if they display "objectionable" behavior, so you may want to mention your senior dog's barking when you call to book. The Cast Member you speak with may offer options for you and explain the policies in greater depth.
I hope this helps you plan your cozy cabin retreat, Dana! Be sure to try everything your resort has to offer, like
canoe rentals,
horse-drawn carriage rides, and of course, dinner and a show at the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue! It's a knee-slappin', rootin'-tootin', all-you-care-to-enjoy meal featuring stick to your ribs favorites, and the Pioneer Hall Players are guaranteed to have the whole family clapping and singing along. Tell 'em Scott sent you! I am wishing you a restful and relaxing trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
Stay magical,
Scott
