Hello, Wayne!
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I understand that recent announcements about
Disability Access Service (DAS) have caused some concern, but I don't want you to worry about your upcoming visit to
Walt Disney World Resort. I'm happy to share the latest information and point you in the right direction for your May 20, 2024, arrival.
You are correct that guests visiting from outside the US aren't able to complete the pre-registration video chat process that is currently in place. You'll need to wait until you've arrived on-site to have your party's eligibility determined. For visits through May 19, 2024 guests can still stop by
Guest Relations to complete this process face-to-face with a Cast Member. Once the service changes are implemented on May 20th, you'll need to complete the registration with a member of the Disability Services team via virtual chat.
It's my understanding that this chat will be available in the My Disney Experience Mobile App, which you should download once you've arrived in the US. But have no fear if you don't have a smartphone or aren't able to download this app. You can still head to Guest Relations which will be happy to provide you with a device to complete the virtual chat.
During the chat, you'll connect with a specially trained Cast Member to discuss your needs. They may also include a health professional from Inspire Health Alliance to assist with determining eligibility. If your group is not approved for DAS, alternate accommodations will be discussed on a case-by-case basis. Please know that
many programs are in place to provide an inclusive environment for guests.
I hope this clears up any confusion, Wayne. We are all sure to learn more as these changes roll out and I'm eager to begin hearing feedback from guests and Cast Members about the new procedures. If we can answer any additional questions in the meantime please don't hesitate to come back and ask us.
Magic and memories,
Amy
