Hi, We are coming this summer with 3 small children. I would like to stay at the closest (least travel time) resort to Hollywood Studios. There are listed several resorts with access, but web doesn't say which is closest. Thank you! =-)

There are five hotels that are all within about a 10-15 minute boat ride to Disney's Hollywood Studios. The difference in travel time with all of these is five minutes at the most -- so close as to be almost equidistant in my mind. The hotels are: Boardwalk, Yacht, Beach, Swan, and Dolphin. There are many pros and cons to each. The Swan and Dolphin are perhaps technically the hotels closest to DHS. However, while they are on Disney Property, the Swan and Dolphin are not owned by Disney and do not have any particular themeing as the Disney hotels do. They seem to me to be more like a hotel that you would find in any city. Very nice, but not particularly special in my book.

The Boardwalk hotel is the closest Disney-owned hotel to DHS. It is perhaps one minute further away than the Swan/Dolphin. This would be a great option for you. The Yacht and Beach clubs are also fabulous. They have what is universally considered to be the best swimming pool at WDW -- the three acre big Stormalong Bay. This is a truly incredible place for kids to play, and it can only be used by Yacht and Beach Club guests.

Another thing for you to consider is your type of room accommodations. Both the Boardwalk and the Beach Club have, in addition to standard hotel rooms, villa-style rooms. The villas have separate living and bedroom space and full kitchens. These rooms have been perfect for my family of five.

If I had to choose your hotel, I'd go with the Beach Club Villas. It is maybe 3-5 minutes further away than the Swan/Dolphin, but the far superior amenities and the villa-room option make this the best choice for you in my mind.

    Hope this helps.
