Hi, My family and I (2 adults, 16-girl, 9-boy) are planning our first WDW trip. We have been overwhelmed with info and can't decide where to stay. We know that we don't want to stay at a Value resort and want a nice pool area. Suggestions?

Hi Deanna! Once you experience Walt Disney World, you're going to wonder why you waited so long to plan your first trip! Since your family wants a nice pool, I recommend you stay at either the Yacht Club or Beach Club resorts. These sister resorts are among my family's favorites, and I think your family will love them too. The resorts share Stormalong Bay, a sprawling pool with a giant waterslide, a sandy beach, a whirlpool and a lazy river.

Both the Yacht and Beach Club are deluxe resorts so the rooms are sizable and luxurious, but room rates there tend to run less than those of the monorail resorts. You can walk or take a boat to Epcot and Hollywood Studios from these resorts, which makes them super convenient. They're also within walking distance of the restaurants and nightlife of the Boardwalk and the Swan and Dolphin resorts, so you have lots of dining options close by.

Both resorts offer rooms with two queen beds and a daybed, which would be great for your family. The Beach Club has a bright, cheery feel while the Yacht Club is a little more refined. Rooms at the Yacht Club offer full balconies, but only some at the Beach Club do, so be sure to request a balcony if you make your reservation at that resort.

I'd love to help you with more questions as you plan your family's first Disney vacation. Please don't hesitate to visit me again at the Moms Panel if I can help!
