Hi Tiffany!
I remember those days of strapping my daughter to my back to explore. I loved having her close and it was much easier than pushing a stroller.
According to the
Walt Disney World rules, backpacks are allowed as long as they do not exceed 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm). Therefore, I recommend obtaining the dimensions of the hiking child carrier backpack that you want to use prior to bringing it to the parks. I did a quick search online and I found a nice child carrier backpack, from a popular retailer, that measures 24" H x 13" W x 15.4" D. Given these dimensions, this backpack would be allowed.
If the backpack will fit at your feet, you can bring it with you on the
attraction. There are several attractions in which this will not be a challenge, such as
The Sea with Nemo & Friends and "
it's a small world." However, there are some attractions that have pretty tight spaces, such as
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. At these attractions, I have a tough time fitting even a small backpack, but you can set the backpack in the specified area prior to boarding the attraction. Also keep in mind that certain attractions, such as Soarin', require Guests to place all bags in the middle aisle or under their seat.
