Hello there, Robin, and welcome to planDisney!
Thanks for submitting your question to us and how wonderful to hear that you have a visit to the Disneyland Resort early next year! February is a great time to visit as
crowd levels are usually a bit lower compared to the rest of the year.
I love helping other Guests prepare for big family trips to the Disney Parks. How considerate of you to be concerned about your mom's mobility issues! I had a chat with an awesome Cast Member at
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa on your behalf and learned a few things that you'll be happy to hear. First of all, if you chose an ADA Accessible hotel room, the beds will be slightly lower than the standard rooms. They are also in the process of including a step stool as a normal room amenity in all their rooms which will be found underneath the bathroom sink. She also stated that, if there is not a step stool in your room, you may contact Housekeeping and they would be happy to bring one to your room.
Disney also offers
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities which might be helpful for your mom's visit. If she needs one, it's also really easy to rent a
Wheelchair or an ECV (Electric Conveyance Vehicle) to assist with getting her around the Parks.
You made a fantastic choice with your hotel, too! I love the ambiance and grandeur of the Grand Californian. Spend some time in the lobby admiring the decorations and be sure to relax and lounge by the fireplace. My kids love grabbing a cup of hot chocolate from the
GCH Craftsman Grill and sipping it while sitting in one of the easy chairs.
Robin, we're so glad that you came to us and I wish you the best as you continue to plan your trip to The Happiest Place on Earth! Feel free to stop by again if you have any more questions. We're always happy to help and we'd love to hear from you. Until next time!
Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
