Hi I saw the question and answer asking about special deals for dvc members and wondered if it was still worth buying a dining plan if there are going to discounts in the portable perks guide? Best tips for dvc members please ! Any extra offers on ticket

    Hi Sophia,

I think Portable Perks offers some great dining options however there are some advantages to buying the dining plan.

For children ages 3-9, it is hard to feed them for the day for the price of the plan. For adults, if you like to eat a lot of food or experience higher end restaurants, the dining plan offers the ability to save money by purchasing your food up front.

I think some vacation club members like to cook their meals in their rooms because they have cooking accomodations. My family likes to eat out on vacation, and we usually only have a studio without cooking equipment. When we do purchase the dining plan, we make sure we eat at the nicer restaurants so we can experience new dining experiences at a discount.

As for other tips, review your portable perks when you get to the room. The World of Disney in Downtown Disney offers vacation club members a discount and they have many of the same items you see throughout the parks. I love to travel to Downtown Disney to score on some extra savings to buy more souvenirs.

I have never seen a discount on tickets for members however because we often buy an annual pass because we have enough points to make more than one trip a year to the Walt Disney World Resorts.

    Have a magical vacation!
