Hi Does my disney band from disney world parks work on disneyland parks or do i need to buy a different one .

Hi Roland! Welcome to planDisney! I’m so glad you stopped by with your question. Your trip to the Disneyland Resort is just around the corner, and I’d be thrilled to help you put the finishing touches on your magical itinerary.

Great question about MagicBands! If you have a MagicBand+, you're in luck! It works at the Disneyland Resort. Just make sure it’s fully charged before you head out for the day. However, if your MagicBand is an earlier version, those unfortunately aren’t compatible at the Disneyland Resort. In that case, you might consider upgrading to a MagicBand+, which you can purchase ahead of time through the ShopDisney website or once you arrive at the resort. You'll find them at various locations, including World of Disney in Downtown Disney, most resort hotel gift shops, and select in-park merchandise locations like Emporium on Main Street.

Here’s a helpful Q-Tip! Once you have your MagicBand+, you’ll want to link it to your Disneyland app. Just open the app and log into your Disney account. Tap the menu (those three horizontal lines in the bottom-right corner), scroll to the “Account” section, and select “MagicBand+.” From there, tap the blue plus sign in the top-right corner to link your band. Easy as Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!

Once it's all set up, your MagicBand+ will be your magical companion throughout the day. Not only can you use it to scan into the parks and access your Lightning Lane reservations, but it also adds a little extra pixie dust to your experience. During nighttime spectaculars like Wondrous Journeys or when the Paint the Night parade returns, your band may light up and pulse in time with the music. Certain attractions, like the Haunted Mansion, have special effects, too. I always smile when mine flashes red as the Ghost Host reminds me to “hurry baaaack…”

And since this year marks Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, keep an eye out for limited-time MagicBand+ activations around the parks. Look for spots marked with the 70th logo and some familiar Disney pals nearby. They’re the perfect surprise-and-delight moments as you explore.

Roland, if any other questions pop up before your visit, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us at planDisney. We’re always delighted to help you plan a practically perfect Disneyland day!

    Enjoy every magical moment,

    David
