Hi.Disney,.this is me and my son's first time to disney and we are also celebrating his 8th birthday. I've been trying for months to schedule Mickey backyard barbeque October 13th or 14th. Its just the 2 of us going. Is there anyway we can pay at the door?

    Hi Maria,
Thanks for submitting your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I am so sorry to hear you have been unable to make an Advanced Dining Reservation for Mickey's Backyard BBQ. My suggestion to you is to keep trying, especially the day before and the day of your desired date. Many people cancel their reservations to avoid the per person charge for no-shows. This opens up seats for those that would really like to attend these special dining experiences. If you are staying in a Walt Disney World Resort, I would suggest going to your Concierge desk upon arrival and asking if they can offer any assistance. Mention that you would like to do this for your son's special birthday trip. I can't make any promises, but they may be able to help you out.

I would not recommend going to the Mickey's Backyard BBQ without an Advanced Dining Reservation. They know exactly how many people can be seated at these dinner shows and if you can't reserve seats in advance, you will likely be turned away. I would hate for your son to be disappointed.

If I could also make an alternate suggestion for you, a really fun dinner venue that my kids and I love is the Whispering Canyon Cafe located in Disney's Wilderness Lodge. It's a family style (which means all you can eat) dinner with an interesting flair and if you happen to order one of their delicious milkshakes, it's bottomless-they will bring as many as you want until you tell them to stop. Should you end up there for dinner, I highly recommend that you ask for some ketchup. Your server will be more than happy to help you out.

Maria, I wish you the best of luck!

    Best Wishes,
    Amy B.
