Hey, we visited in April of last year with our 5yo & 19 month old boys. I think it was during spring break times, the crowds really didn't bother us. For our next trip we want to come after Christmas (26-30). Will the crowds really be that much worse?

The short answer is yes, the crowds will be worse.  During certain parts of April, depending on when Easter is, there may have only been slightly above average attendance in the parks.  The general rule of thumb is that the more people are off of school, the more crowded the parks will be. Different school districts throughout the country have different Easter and spring break plans, but everyone is off at Christmas.

According to the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, there may be as many as 10,000 more people in the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day than Easter Day. Those 10,000 people have to go somewhere and many of them will be in the lines for the rides and the restaurants.
