Hey! We are reserved to visit on the 19th-23rd but Magic Kingdom is all booked :( We weren’t planning to watch any show but really wanted pictures infront of the castle. After all, how is the trip complete without castle pics. How can we go about this?

    Hiya Huma,

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for bringing your question today! There is always one thing that you can’t leave your vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth without doing. Mine is enjoying a Simba Sunset at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and for many Guests, a photo in front of Cinderella’s Castle is top of their list.

I’m sorry to hear that you were unable to get Disney Park Pass Reservations for Magic Kingdom Park during your visit. Nothing is less magical than spending your entire day waiting in line for one ride because of large crowds. The system was put in place to ensure that the capacity of each Theme Park was monitored to ensure that Guests could have the best experience possible. Unfortunately, even if you just want to come in to take a picture, without a valid Disney Park Pass Reservation for Magic Kingdom Park, you will not be able to do so. That said, let’s see what magic we can come up with. First things first, does your Theme Park ticket have a Park Hopper option?! Then no need to worry; with your Park Hopper ticket, you can enter Magic Kingdom Park beginning at 2:00 PM EST (subject to capacity) without having a Disney Park Pass Reservation. You first need to make sure to enter the Theme Park, where you do have a Disney Park Pass Reservation, and then hop over to Magic Kingdom later that afternoon for your photo. If you don’t have Park Hopper but would like to upgrade your ticket to include it, there is still time to do so. This would be ideal if you don’t want to spend the whole day at Magic Kingdom and keep your existing Disney Park Pass Reservation. Don’t have a Park Hopper Option or don’t want to add it on, no need to worry yet! Guests constantly change their plans, and availability can open up (sometimes even 24 hours before). Keep an eye on the availability calendar, and if you see Magic Kingdom become available, add the reservation.

Before I let you go, Huma, I do have a somewhat unusual suggestion. It is the holidays, and nothing screams holidays like a Walt Disney World Resort Gingerbread display. Now I know you would love to have a picture in front of the Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, but what about a little twist of a classic just done in cookie form? Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s gingerbread display this year features Cinderella’s Castle all decked out in the 50th Anniversary style, just like at Magic Kingdom. This would be a perfect way to get a photo in front of the Castle and commemorate the holiday season. If you are driving to the resort, you will need a dining reservation to park at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but you can also park at the Transportation and Ticket Center and ride the monorail over.

I will keep my fingers crossed that all your dreams come true for your vacation. Please come back and see us if you need anything else.

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F
