Hi Stephanie!
Thank you for bringing your question to
planDisney! I visited
Walt Disney World with my mom, who was diabetic, so I can help provide a few tips from personal experience.
You can absolutely bring food and drinks from outside of the theme parks to your
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel room. There are several options for ensuring you always have sugary drinks on hand in your room. You can purchase a refillable mug at your resort when you arrive. This mug can be used throughout the length of your stay, up to 14-days. You can get unlimited refills of coffee, tea, soda, and even hot chocolate at your resort. There are many sugary sodas to choose from. You can also purchase bottles of soda from the gift shop at your resort and keep them in the mini-fridge in your room. Another option is to place a grocery order and have soda, along with any other grocery items you need, delivered directly to your resort.
Bell services will hold on to them until you are ready to pick them up or have them delivered to your room for a small fee. There are also plenty of grocery stores in the surrounding area if you prefer to pick the items up yourself.
Of course you can also purchase sugary drinks inside of all the Walt Disney World theme parks. If you are ever in need of a sugary drink immediately and there is a long line, just inform any nearby Cast Member and they can help make sure you get what you need immediately.
I also want to call your attention to the
First Aid stations located at each of the theme parks. The First Aid stations offer a clean place to change your insulin pump. They also will store your insulin in a nice, safe, and cool place and properly dispose of any sharps. Speaking of sharps, at your resort hotel you can request Mousekeeping to request a sharps jar. Make sure to note any T1D dietary restrictions on your
advanced dining reservations.I hope you have a magical vacation!
Magically,
Stacy
