Hey Erin! Do the kids get trick/treat bags for the MNSSHP or should we bring our own? Also do us parents get to trick/treat too? We are really going on a budget this trip. Is it really worth the $175 for a family of 4? It will be my DD 7th bday.

Both children and adults will receive trick or treat bags when they enter the Magic Kingdom, you don't need to bring your own. I can absolutely assure that adults are welcome to collect candy right there along with the kids. When I attended Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party last year, I left with pounds of goodies that were all MINE :-)

The "is it worth it" question is always one that makes me pause. Without knowing you or your children, it's a bit difficult to say for certain what you makes sense for your individual needs. So let me tell you about my experiences ...

A few years ago, my family went to the Magic Kingdom Pirate & Princess Party (a now defunct event that was very similar to MNSSHP). My children were ages 6 and 9. At the time, they were early risers. We had a decent time at the party, but the kids were slightly overwhelmed and VERY tired. We ended up leaving the park by about 10:00 with cranky children.

Fast forward to last year at MNSSHP. The kids were older, better rested, knew what to expect, and we had GREAT costumes. The party was a blast, we lasted until nearly midnight and had a GREAT time.

For yourself, you have to think about your children's temperament and how they do with late nights. Are they afraid of ghosts (even friendly ones)? How will they react to other guests in costume? Assuming that your kids are fine with all of this, then I'd say that MNSSHP is well worth it.  However, if the kids will be a mess if they stay up past 9:00, then I'd say you should wait for another visit to experience the Party.

Good luck and have a great trip!
