    Hey Doug! Our 1st Disney trip and need some of your wisdom. Arrival Sept19 @2:30 Want to do something 'big' our 1st eve. Dinner advice? Try a park for a couple of hours? DD's 14&9 & both interested in character dining. I may be back for more help

    Jackie,

    With no park enjoying evening Extra Magic Hours that night, I would say that you can both save money and really start your vacation off right by doing something other than rush to a theme park.

    Here are a few suggestions;

    1. Enjoy a great dining experience. One that is fun, delicious, and sets the mood for the whole vacation.
      1. If they like Mickey and friends, Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary is a perfect choice.
      2. If they are more interested in the princess experience, they could go to 1900 Park Fair in the Grand Floridian Resort.
      3. With somewhat older girls, perhaps a Hawaiian Luau might provide an exotic start? Try the Spirit of Aloha dinner show at the Polynesian resort for some tropical fun!
    2. With any of these, after dinner you can try to time it to watch the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom from a resort property. I would recommend the beach at the Polynesian.
    3. Other ideas include a shopping/dining spree at Downtown Disney, or a leisurely stroll on the BoardWalk?

    These are just a start. Tell me more about what they might like and I can refine the recommendation!

    have a magical vacation!
