Help! Taking 6 yr old son for 1st trip-JUST booked for week of 11/23. Everything is booked-restaurants, character dining, everything. Pointers on how to get a table at this point? Would love to surprise w/ meal w/ Mickey, Winnie, etc. THANKS!

Hi, Amy!  Last minute table service reservations are tough to get, especially for the week you are going!  Things will be pretty busy for the Thanksgiving holiday.

My best advice is to keep calling, up until the day you wish to dine at a particular location.  You never know when someone will need to make a last minute cancellation, and you might be the lucky person who gets that table.  Also, at least for places like the Crystal Palace and the Garden Grill, you can walk up to the podium without too much trouble (since they are in the theme parks as opposed to in a resort) and check to see if they have any openings.  We lucked into a Garden Grill reservation on a Thanksgiving Day a few years back!

Don't despair, though, if you can't find a table at a character meal.  There are plenty of character meet and greet opportunities throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks.  You may not get to dine in the same restaurant where Mickey Mouse is, but you can certainly find him available for photographs and autographs at various locations.

I hope your vacation is wonderful!  While you will likely encounter Thanksgiving crowds, you will also be able to see the wonderful holiday decorations!  It's a magical time at Walt Disney World!
