Help! Help! We have 11:45 ADR for Chef Mickey's mother's day brunch and then plan to head to AK for the rest of the day (this is our only time at AK). What is a good itinerary to make the most of our time?? Kids 9,7,5,1 plus 2 grandparents! Thanks again

    Hi, Tracy!

Thank you for sending in another great question to us here on the Disney Parks Moms Panel. How wonderful to be celebrating Mother's Day with Mickey and friends at Chef Mickey's!

While I personally always recommend a full day to tour Animal Kingdom (it's a top priority for my family on every trip!), I understand how vacation itineraries don't always allow for this schedule. You'll want to plan on a good 1.5 hours to enjoy brunch at Chef Mickey's. After brunch, hop on a bus to Animal Kingdom from Disney's Contemporary Resort. Assuming you will finish your meal by 1:30 PM, I would estimate that you'll arrive at Animal Kingdom between 2:15 and 2:30 PM. On Sunday, May 12th, Animal Kingdom is open until 7:00 PM, so you'll have approximately 4.5 hours to tour the park.

Here is the itinerary I would suggest for your family:

    1. Go directly to the Africa section of the park and get in line for Kilimanjaro Safaris. This is a not-to-be-missed attraction and very likely your only opportunity to see live animals (since you won't have time to experience the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, Maharajah Jungle Trek, Discovery Island Trails or The Oasis Exhibits - hopefully, you can enjoy these during a future visit!).
    2. Find a spot on Discovery Island to catch Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade at 3:45 PM.
    3. After the parade, head over to see the Festival of the Lion King show at 4:30 PM.
    4. Next, walk over to DinoLand U.S.A. and have a bite to eat at Restaurantosaurus.
    5. See Finding Nemo-The Musical at 6:00 PM before exiting the park. (If there's any time between dinner and Finding Nemo, stop by The Boneyard for some digging, climbing and sliding fun.

Special note: Since you will already have met Mickey and friends at Chef Mickey's earlier that day, I would skip any Character meet-and-greets at Animal Kingdom. This will help maximize your time to enjoy attractions and shows!
