Hello, We are coming there in May and I have a nut and dairy allergy. I am very worried about eating at Disney, any suggestion in table dining and for quick dining. Thanks you.

    Diana,

I have a 6 year old that has a serious tree nut allergy. We are never without an EPI pen, to say the least!

I find that vacationing at Disney is the most relaxed I ever get when it comes to her allergy. I still bring the pen, but love knowing that Disney is on my side, making it easy to keep things safe. First off, when you make any table dining reservations, let them know of your allergies. They will send a chef out to discuss the menu with you, offering recommendations, adjustments, and overall dietary support. They LIKE doing this, so don't think of it as if you are putting them out. And if none of the menu items seem right to you, they are known for making something special for you every now and then.

As for quick service dining, all the venues have a book that you can request that identifies ingredients based on allergy needs. Ask for it, and pick what meets your needs.

Other resources that might help? I like the allergy pages at AllEars.Net, as well as the Disney Food Blog. Deb and AJ (respectively to these two unofficial Disney fan sites) are both Disney experts who have gathered a lot of first hand information on venues, dietary needs, and guest experiences. And they talk to the chefs too, not just the patrons. So they are a really great source of information.

So what restaurants should you go to? They do such a great job that you should feel comfortable at any Disney restaurant, and you should choose based on cuisine preferences, and let Disney help you when you get there.

BOTTOM LINE: I may be a bit partial, but I believe that nobody caters to unique dietary needs better than Disney, PERIOD!  Let them help you put allergies in the rear view mirror so you can enjoy your vacation!

Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
