Hello, We will be coming to Disney World at Christmastime. I was thinking of doing the Gingerbread Academy at The Boardwalk with my family. I was wondering if you had any info or tips for us. Thanks! Margaret

Hi there, Margaret! It sounds like you're interested in "baking spirits bright" during your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth!  One of my favorite activities outside of the theme parks during the holiday season is to tour the Walt Disney World Resort hotels to see the gingerbread displays. The most amazing creation is the life-size gingerbread house in the lobby of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, made with a classic gingerbread recipe from Austria.

Disney's BoardWalk Inn is the home of the Gingerbread Academy that lets guests build gingerbread houses to take home, along with complimentary hot chocolate and apple cider for sipping. If you've ever tried to make a gingerbread house yourself, I'm sure you're aware of how the cookie can crumble. Have no worries, as a pastry chef will be on hand to make sure your creation rises to the occasion!

The cost for this year's experience is $125 for up to four guests (although prices are always subject to change). For an extra $25, you can make a second house. Check-in for each session starts at 1:00 PM and will take place in the Ample Hills Creamery located on Disney's Boardwalk. The Gingerbread Academy can be booked daily from November 24 until December 25, and reservations can be made by contacting Disney's BoardWalk Inn Private Dining Team at (407) 939-5175. Afterward, make sure to walk through the Resort's lobby to take in the fantastic gingerbread houses decorated to look like the BoardWalk's restaurants (and see if you can find the not so Hidden Mickey in one of the gingerbread house windows)!

I hope you have a delicious time baking up some magical memories, Margaret!
