Hello, Planning a trip *after* Thanksgiving, 2010 for 2 adults & 3 kids (10y, 8y, 17m). Is POR with trundle or WL with bunkbeds and crib better? 8yo tends to "snuggle" to anyone in bed with him, and we are laid-back, informal people. Thank

    Rachel,

Of course I'm biased because it is one of my favorite Disney resorts, but I would choose the Wilderness Lodge without hesitation.  I think the room would be a better fit for your family, so the snuggly  8 year old doesn't alienate siblings who are, ahem, less snuggly.  (Can you tell I speak from experience here?)  Plus, unless your children already have them at home, bunk beds are just fun.

As for the resort itself, Wilderness Lodge is simply breathtaking.  At the time of your visit there will be an enormous Christmas tree in the lobby, and the holiday decor really shows off the beautiful architecture of the lodge.  There is also a lovely fire area inside which is the perfect place to get a photo for your holiday cards!  The outside waterfall and pool area lead down to Fire Rock Geyser, and beyond that is the beach from which you can watch the nightly Wishes fireworks show in the Magic Kingdom.  The Wilderness Lodge is also a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom which is very convenient, and you can even boat over to there or the Contemporary Resort and catch the monorail to ride over to Epcot (a transfer at the Transportation Center is necessary).

You mention that you are laid back and informal so I thought you should know that even though this is a deluxe resort, it is still very informal.  In fact, even when we have stayed at the creme-de-la-creme Grand Floridian, we never felt anything but relaxed and comfortable.  Despite the grand appearance of many of the resorts, you won't find that any of them are stuffy.  Everything has been sprinkled with pixie dust, after all!

    Have a great vacation!
