hello, our departing flight time keeps changing - imagine that. if it stays later in the day than originally planned, can we add another day to our 7 day base ticket, or would we need to get an 8 day upfront? don't want to pay for something we won't use

I completely understand your situation. I got a call from my airline just this weekend telling me that they had rescheduled a flight I'm taking to WDW this summer.

You can certainly add a day to your park tickets after your arrival at WDW. If you're not sure how long you'll be staying, your plan makes perfect sense. Once you're at Disney World and have your schedule worked out, you can go to any park ticket window or guest relations office. They will be able to extend your ticket and you will only pay the difference in cost between your current 7 day ticket and the extended 8 day ticket.
