Ahoy Irma!
Don't you just love that Disney Cruise Line now offers a stop at the Walt Disney World Resort on their cruise itineraries? I was able to enjoy a day at Disney's Hollywood Studios on my Disney Magic cruise last summer, and it was one of many highlights of my family's sailing!
You have two great questions about how things will work when the ship docks in Port Canaveral. Before your cruise vacation begins, you will be able to pick which Walt Disney World Park your family will visit on your day ashore and also what time you want to board the motor coach at the cruise terminal. If this is your first cruise with Disney Cruise Line, this can be done 75 days before sailing after logging in to your cruise reservation in the
Planning Center and clicking on "My Cruise Activities" on
www.disneycruise.com. On the morning of your magical day ashore, you will disembark the ship, pass through U.S. Customs and board a motor coach headed for the park of choice . On my sailing, this process was very smooth and didn't take long at all. We gave ourselves about 15 minutes and it took about half that time. The ride over to the parks is about an hour or so depending on traffic.
Once you arrive, your "Key to the World" card from the ship will also serve as your park ticket. It is a park hopper which means it can be used at all four parks. If you decide to hop over to another park, the WDW transportation including the monorail, buses, or boats can be utilized for your convenience.
I hope my answer gives you a good idea of what to expect, Irma! There will be lots of information about it onboard including a short video on your stateroom TV.
Have a wonderful day!
