Welcome Aboard, Irma!
How exciting that you are in the early planning stages of a Disney Cruise Line vacation! It can be a daunting task, trying to choose which ship, itinerary, and length of cruise to choose.
I will always recommend choosing the longest itinerary that you can. Our family's first cruise on the Disney Magic was a 7-Night Eastern Caribbean trip. We loved everything about cruising, had a MAGICal time, and we definitely NOT ready for it to be over.
Our family has taken seven Disney Cruises together. In addition, my husband and I have taken six adults-only cruises. Our favorite itinerary by far is the 7-Night Western Caribbean. This includes my all-time best-loved port of George Town, Grand Cayman. It was on the "Island Tour and Snorkeling with Stingrays" that my daughters had the amazing opportunity to enter the water with giant stingrays at the Stingray Sandbar. Their faces were priceless!
Eight years old is the perfect age for your boys to enjoy the
Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab onboard the Disney fleet. These areas cater to kids ages 3-12, and it was nearly impossible to get my girls to leave these areas at that age! We did have a rule that everyone had to attend dinner in the main dining rooms and the show, if we were going. My girls also loved going to the Buena Vista Theatre to see a movie while at sea.

Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
