Hey there, Patricia!
I’m so happy to welcome you to planDisney! It looks like your
springtime visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth is just around the corner, and that’s such an exciting time. You’re probably in full countdown mode right about now…double-checking your packing list, making sure all the details are set, and dreaming about that moment when you finally walk through the gates. There’s something so special about the anticipation leading up to a Walt Disney World vacation, and I’m so excited for you as the magic gets closer and closer!
At Walt Disney World, creating a magical experience for
Guests of all abilities is a priority, and there are several services available to help make the parks more accessible. One of those services is
Disability Access Service, commonly known as DAS.
DAS is intended for Guests with developmental disabilities who may find it difficult to wait in a traditional attraction queue for long periods of time. Instead of standing in a physical line, this service provides an alternative way to return to attractions that better accommodates those needs.
Getting started with DAS begins with a live video chat with a Cast Member. Before joining the call, you’ll want to make sure you’re signed in to your My Disney Experience account and that everyone in your travel party is connected to you through your Family & Friends list. The Guest requesting DAS will also need to be present during the video chat.
Although no documentation is required to apply for DAS, since you’re traveling from the UK, registration can’t be completed until you arrive in the United States. Once you’re here, you can begin the process directly in the
My Disney Experience app by starting the live video chat with a Cast Member.
I’ve got some fun news to share, too! It was recently announced that
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is set to reopen on April 8 with some exciting updates. The attraction will feature several enhancements, including brand-new handheld blasters that should make your mission even more interactive. Even better, your
Disney PhotoPass photo will now capture your mission score and rank
right on the image. How fun is that?
Patricia, I hope this helps as you put the finishing touches on your plans! If any other questions come up along the way, you’re always welcome to stop by and visit us again here at planDisney. We’re happy to help!
Magic Awaits,
Kami
