Hey there Andrea, I'm happy to wish you a warm Canadian welcome to planDisney!
When it comes to finding new Disney adventures, I'm always happy to lend some expedition expertise to fellow Canucks looking to venture out into great wide somewhere - or at least in this case, the wilds of
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. These special experiences found as part of the
Enchanting Extras offerings at Walt Disney World Resort each have their own quirks and actually vary a lot depending on whether you're looking for a more active or leisurely way to enjoy the Harambe Wildlife Reserve:
- The Wild Africa Trek is designed for those looking for a bit more adventurous thrill that involves guests being harnessed up before they traverse a series of pathways and wooden rope bridges suspended over the Safi River Valley to spot the wildlife below. (If you've got any particular fears of heights or seeing the gaping maw of a hippopotamus or crocodile below you, this can definitely be a fun way to face them!) This experience lasts for about 3 hours and ends with a private ride out to the Boma where you'll enjoy a quick snack, and also comes with complimentary photos taken of you during your expedition that you can download afterward! Be sure the check out the Ultimate Guide to the Wild Africa Trek on the Disney Parks Blog featuring planDisney Panelists Jenna & Donyell who take you through what this exhilarating experience is like!
- On the other hand, Savor the Savanna offers a more laid-back approach to viewing the wildlife as you sip and dine on some African specialities and alcoholic beverages as you sit back on the Boma. You'll spend more time here to really enjoy your meal compared to the Wild Africa Trek and look out on its observation areas before you are driven back. The biggest difference beyond the overall activity level for this outing is that you wont necessarily see as much diversity of wildlife during this offering though you'll still get the chance to spot some during your private safari vehicle ride!
I hope that this helps, Andrea! You'll find that these particular tours and offerings tend to book very quickly and are often in high demand, so you'll want to snag a spot on whichever you choose sooner than later. In the meantime, come back to planDisney again soon
for any other tips, tricks or advice that I'm always happy to lend to Canadians on their upcoming adventures!
Here's to having a wild time on your trip next month!
