Hello, I will be separating from the military but not "retiring". I have service-connected disability and have my VA VHIC card - will I be able to use this card to stay at Shades of Green and purchase/activate the Disney Salute tickets?

Magical Greetings, Kimberly! From all of us at planDisney, thank you for your service. I am happy to help you with your questions today!

Shades of Green Resort is a wonderful option for military members and their families to stay at Walt Disney World Resort. They have some of the biggest rooms on Walt Disney World property, a wonderful pool area, and several dining options. Guests staying at Shades of Green get to participate in Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours! I plan on staying here for the first time this summer, and I can’t wait! Thanks to the Disabled Veterans Equal Access Act of 2018, you can qualify to stay here. You can use your VHIC card that indicates your service-connected disabilities or HEC form H623A for eligibility.

Now, let’s talk theme park tickets! Active duty service members, retirees, and 100% disabled Veterans qualify for the Disney Military Salute Tickets. However, Hakuna Matata! You can purchase discounted Magic Your Way theme park tickets through Shades of Green or your local military base. Unlike the Salute tickets, these are considered “activated,” meaning you do not have to make a pit stop at Guest Relations to activate. When you get your tickets, link them to your My Disney Experience mobile app, and as long as your Theme Park Reservations are done, you can head straight to the entrance turnstiles when you arrive and begin your magical day!

Kimberly, thank you again for your service. If other questions arise during your planning journey, send them to me. I am always happy to help!

    Happy Planning!
