Hey Brent,
Welcome to planDisney! I love hearing about the activities other guests choose for their vacations. Some people are theme park rope-droppers, some like to spend time on the golf course, and others seek out unique fishing locations.
Walt Disney World offers two types of fishing experiences. It sounds like you’re looking for
Dockside Fishing, which is offered at
Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground or
Port Orleans Resort- Riverside. I contacted a Cast Member who stated that you can only fish with the rental poles available at the resort, and any fishing at Walt Disney World Resort is catch and release. Fishing gear is available to rent at the Bike Barn at Fort Wilderness or the Fishin’ Hole at Ol’ Man Island at Port Orleans Resort.
Another option is to reserve a guided fishing excursion, where an experienced guide will take you out on the water in a pontoon or tournament-style NITRO bass fishing boat for 2 or 4 hours. These experiences include a rod and reel, tackle, bait, and assorted snacks and beverages. You can bring your fishing gear for this experience, but the price is the same as if you use the gear provided by Disney. Depending on which marina you book your excursion, this experience can take you out on Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, Village Lake, or Crescent Lake and World Showcase Lagoon. I recommend confirming the fishing route when you book or when you check in for your experience. Can you imagine fishing inside EPCOT World Showcase? Sounds amazing!
I hope this helps you plan your perfect vacation, Brent. I know some old
Country Bears who used to sing, “Ain’t nothing like the great outdoors to ease your soul, ain’t nothing like the great outdoors to keep you from growing old,” so you're in good company! If you have any more questions about
Enchanting Extras or planning your vacation, come back and
