Things to do in fort wilderness

Howdy, partner! Renee, I am so glad to meet you at planDisney. Only one more sleep until you journey to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort! You must be getting so excited!

Fort Wilderness is so close to Magic Kingdom Park, yet feels a world away – well, if that world away is still shimmering with Pixie Dust. There is so much to do, I know why people camp here for weeks at a time.

Many resorts offer nightly campfires to roast marshmallows under a starry sky. Fort Wilderness is the only resort to add a few stars of their own. With Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long, these mischievous pals invite you to join them for campfire songs and a knee slappin' fun time. You can check with the resort to see which nights these chipmunks are coming out to play.

You can mosey over to Tri-Circle-D Ranch. The horses are such magnificent animals. In addition to seeing all their beauty up close, the Ranch has unique momentos, honoring the pageantry and role horses have played in Walt Disney World history. You can schedule trail, carriage, and wagon rides, or visit and stay on your own two feet.

If fishing is your sport, there are several ways to reel in fun. You can schedule a fishing excursion or rent gear for dockside fishing. My kids did this at Port Orleans - Riverside and learned so much, including catch and release. My oldest caught his first fish and created core memories. There are also other water sports, like kayak and canoe rentals.

You can see many of these are included in the Enchanting Extras Collection and can be booked in advance by giving them a call.

Fort Wilderness also has recreation like you find at many Disney resorts. It has two swimming pools. Meadow Swimmin' Pool has a corkscrew waterslide for a bit of adventure and a splash and play area for little rangers. The Wilderness Swimmin' Pool offers a more relaxing vibe. It also has Movies Under the Stars, a volleyball court, basketball, a playground and a jogging trail.

The resort also has all the benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World. Complimentary resort transportation will take you from the wilderness to the worlds of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, or anywhere your Disney heart dreams. You can also enjoy Early Entry Hours and rope drop some of your favorite attractions. This year, you can drop your luggage at the resort and make a splash with the arrival day water park benefit. There are so many ways to add some sparkle and enjoy the value of a Disney vacation.

Renee, I hope this helps and you have a wonderful time at the Most Magical Place on Earth. If we can help with any other questions, you have a friend in planDisney.

    See 'Ya Real Soon!
