Hello, Does DVC ever release points for the Grand Floridian as a home base? I know they did so a few years ago, but only see them listed on the resale sites, not the official DVC site. Thank you so much!

Hi Christina, welcome home and welcome back to planDisney! Life is grand when you stay at the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! It’s one of my family’s Disney Vacation Club Home Resorts and where we love staying when we want to be near the Magic Kingdom. Now, let’s dive into your question about adding on Vacation Points at this Resort!

While the add-on offers page on the DVC website typically lists the featured Resorts such as Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows and the Villas at Disneyland Hotel, it also shows Resorts with limited availability. I just checked the add-on tool and saw that the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is not listed here. But don’t fret! Just because it’s not listed doesn’t mean that DVC is not selling Vacation Points for that Resort. DVC’s inventory of Vacation Points for these Resorts is constantly changing and DVC recommends contacting a sales guide to get the most up-to-date information about availability for the sold out DVC Resorts.

If you don’t have a DVC sales guide, you can contact the DVC Sales Center to have one assigned to you. Our family has been working with the same sales guide since we first joined DVC many years ago. He’s been a great resource for us and he always reaches out to us when new offers are available or simply to say hello and wish us a great trip. In fact, he informed of us of a great deal for an add-on contract at the Villas at Grand Floridian a couple years ago that we simply could not pass up!

Christina, don’t forget that when you add-on points directly through Disney, those points appear almost instantaneously in your account! In fact, as soon as we added that contract for the Villas at Grand Floridian, we immediately booked a trip with those Vacation Points to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Also, Vacation Points purchased directly from DVC count towards eligibility for Membership Extras such as Moonlight Magic events and booking a Member Cruise!

Christina, I hope this information is helpful for you and I hope that I’ll be able to call you my DVC neighbor at the Villas at Grand Floridian! If you have any additional questions about DVC or your Membership, don’t hesitate to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
