Hello. My My daughter will turn 3 on the day we will go to disneyworld. Will she need a ticket? What are the perks for a birthday celebrant in the park?

Welcome to planDisney, Kimberly! Thank you for submitting your question to us. The birthday countdown is on! Are you "ready to begin?" Let's talk about all things birthday!

Turning three is a big milestone because Mousketeers at that age will now need a children's theme park ticket, even if they turn three in the middle of the trip. Children under the age of three are considered to be "guests of Mickey" and do not need tickets, theme park reservations, or dining reservations to enjoy all the fun at Walt Disney World Resort.

What I love about this age is that children can now qualify for certain Enchanting Extras! When my oldest daughter was three, she was able to have the royal makeover of her dreams at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! It is such a special moment when they pick the princess gown of their dreams and watch them be transformed into a princess going to a royal ball! Another milestone (if you haven't done it yet!) is their first haircut! Harmony Barber Shop at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park is where my daughter had her first haircut, and what's great about this experience is that you get to go home not only with a lock of hair but a set of Mickey ears and a special certificate commemorating the day. Both Enchanting Extras fill up fast, so make your reservations as soon as possible! You can also walk up to both places the day of, and ask if there are any openings that day. We've got ears, say cheers!

Some other birthday ideas that you can do include picking up a blue "Happy Birthday!" button at your Disney Resort hotel at check-in or Guest Relations at any of the theme parks. You can also have this button personalized (for a small fee) at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square. Finally, no birthday is complete without a birthday cake! You can add a Mickey Celebration Cake to certain Advanced Dining Reservations. Check out the list of participating restaurants here.

Kimberly, I hope these magical ideas "ignite the spark" for a birthday celebration that will be remembered for years to come. Thank you again for visiting planDisney. Have a magical visit in a few weeks, and happy early birthday!

    Magic Awaits!
