Hi Heather. Visiting Orlando 9/12-9/23. What did you wear during your rainy week at wdw? Can't decide what to pack, was planning mostly tanks & shorts (& ponchos). Do you think that would be good? Want to pack as little as possible but want to be p

    Bev,

The rain didn't change the clothes we wore on our bodies, but our footwear did take a dramatic shift.  We did not once wear the tennis shoes we normally wear.  The rain was so heavy that many areas were flooded (6 inches of water in a few spots!) and our feet were soaked.  Thankfully the water did drain rather quickly one the rain subsided, but the shoes would never have dried out by the next day.  We wound up wearing Crocs and sandals for the entire trip.  Not so bad for the rest of my family who brought their Crocs, but considerably more inconvenient for me who only had sequined platform flip-flops!  Definitely learn from my mistake and bring some comfortable, fast drying footwear.

Ponchos are a definite must.  I usually prefer the ones from the dollar store, as I like to have lightweight disposable ones.  However, during the heavy sustained rain we encountered, the Disney parks heavier weight ponchos would have been much better.  The disposables are meant for short-term use, and they began to tear.  We still used them, but we did need more than one per person, so bear that in ind if you bring your own. Also if you're traveling with little ones, I highly recommend a fitted stroller cover.  We would have been miserable without ours.

Finally...I know it's not what you want to hear, but extra clothes come in very handy.  Because we were getting so wet so often, we changed clothes more than normal.  Either pack extras or tuck in some laundry supplies and use a rainy afternoon to do a few loads.  The resorts all offer laundries you can use.

We had a great trip even in the rain, and I hope that, if it rains on you, you'll be able to say the same!
