I've heard you can replace your dessert with a snack option on the dining plan when you are using table service. Would this include soups that are listed on the menu as an appetizer?

    Hi there, Tami,

Thanks so much for stopping by with another great question for us today!  I've been a long-time fan of the Disney Dining Plan and am really excited about some of the changes that were made recently, including the one you've mentioned.  Here's a quick summary of some of the improvements that are already in place.

If you're dining at a Quick-Service location for breakfast, your meal includes one entree and one non-alcoholic beverage.  If you're dining for lunch or dinner, your meal includes one entree, one dessert and one non-alcoholic beverage per person.  For any of these meals, you are now allowed to substitute any eligible Snack item for the dessert and/or non-alcoholic beverage, if you'd like.  That substitution must be made at the time you place your order and the item must be available on the menu at that location.

For Table-Service meals at lunch or dinner, each person is entitled to an entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage (or a full buffet).  At the non-buffet locations, you may now substitute soup, a side salad or a fruit plate for your dessert.  Of course, this is based on what is available on the menu at that particular restaurant, so I'd recommend asking your server for all of your options before you order.

The other change I want to mention is that you may now use as many of your meal entitlements as you want at a time.  Want to treat some friends or family to dinner using your Disney Dining Plan?  Now you can!

I hope that helps with your planning, Tami, and wishing you a magical vacation!

    Have a Disney day,

    Beth
