Welcome aboard, Leah! You must be getting ready to set out on the high seas with Disney Cruise Line! You're in for so much wonder and magic!
It is true that Disney Cruise Line provides each stateroom with two
WavePhones so that guests can keep in touch with each other while at sea and on Castaway Cay. These WavePhones are like wireless phones that can call and text between each other. Each stateroom receives two, but you can request more through Guest Services for an additional fee if you have additional family members in your stateroom that need to keep in touch too.
Alternately, my favorite way to keep in contact with my husband and other friends and family members who sail with us is through the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. Download this to your mobile device to use onboard. It is free to use the Disney Cruise Line wireless network for this app's functions, but if you'd like to use the Disney Cruise Line wireless for additional purposes, like checking email, social media, and web browsing, you'll need to purchase a wireless package. I don't usually purchase a package of wireless time because I try to stay offline while we're on vacation. But, it's so nice to be able to text through the Navigator App, and is especially fun because it offers some fun Disney emojis. Plus, I like that I can use my own phone that I'm already carrying around for photos, instead of carrying both that and the WavePhone. The Navigator App also includes the schedule of events and activities that take place onboard each day, so it's a great way to access all of that information.
I hope those details help as you prepare to set sail, knowing that you can still very easily keep in touch with your family no matter where you each are on the ship!
Have fun planning, Leah!
