I have heard that not all rides open when the park opens (spec. MK) Is this true? Also, are all rides operational during parades and fireworks? I don't want to head off to an attraction to find out its closed. THANK YOU!

It is true that not every ride begins operating at the park opening time. Fortunately, you will not have to guess about this. WDW publishes a weekly "Times Guide" that is available free at the entrance to each of the theme parks. The Times Guide has a section that lists "Special Hours" that lets you know if the operating hours for a particular attraction are different from those for the rest of the park.

The park hours vary widely depending on the season, but as an example, I have in my hand the Times Guide for the week of January 13-19, 2008 for the Magic Kingdom. The park hours for that week were mostly 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Times Guide tells me that the Enchanted Tiki Room was open from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and the Liberty Square Riverboat ran from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The operating hours during your trip are likely to be different, but you can see that WDW does do a good job of communicating what the hours for each attraction are.

And yes , the rides do operate during the parades and fireworks.
