I've heard so much about the grapefruit cake at the Brown Derby restaurant, I'd really just like to get a slice to take with me. Is that possible?

I am a big citrus fan. The Brown Derby grapefruit cake is one of my favorite desserts in all of WDW -- very light, with just the right combination of tart and sweet, plus that yuuuummmy cream cheese frosting.

You don't have to have an entire meal to dine at the Brown Derby. If the crowds are light (likely near park closing time) you can just go up and ask to be seated for dessert. This way you can enjoy the cake in relaxing atmosphere with a cup of coffee or, my preference, champagne :-). However, if that doesn't work out, you can often find the slices of cake available at the Starring Rolls Cafe located next door to the Brown Derby. If you don't see it, ask a cast member at the counter if they can get a piece at the restaurant for you.

If you just can't wait to try the grapefruit cake, the recipe is readily available, both in Disney cookbooks and online. If you Google "Brown Derby Grapefruit Cake Recipe," you'll come up with several hits. This recipe is so popular, that they even have little brown-derby-shaped recipe cards that they pass out at the restaurant. So thoughtful!
