I heard that most food items that cost $4.00 or less are considered snacks on the dining plan. Is this true?

I would agree that *most* items under $4 are considered snacks.  That's definitely not all of them, and never includes any alcoholic beverages.

In my experience what is considered a snack varies from place to place, so I couldn't tell you any hard and fast rules about what will or will not be included.  I can say that the snack selection has increased greatly from the first year of the dining plan, and each trip it seems we find new snacks to choose from.  There is a wide variety available, so I'm sure you'll find snacks to satisfy your family.
