I've heard about different resorts having a "family of the day" but I don't know much about that. Can you offer any insight?

Until a few weeks ago, I wouldn't have been able to tell you firsthand. However, my family spent a couple of nights at Disney's All-Star Sports resort in late September, and we were lucky enough to be selected as the Family of the Day!

First, let me say that this was just dumb luck. We didn't do anything special to qualify; as the manager told us, this family is chosen randomly. Upon check-in we were presented with a laminated family of the day certificate, personalized to welcome us. My children received balloons, stickers, coloring books, and crayons, and we were given flowers. We were also given special golden room keys (as opposed to the usual blue). They took our picture in front of the pool at the resort, and the next day that photo was delivered to our room. A cast member walked us to our room personally, which was in an excellent location, and included a mini fridge. And more than anything, we just felt a healthy dose of pixie dust from the very first moment of our trip!

I love that Disney does random acts of kindness like this, and you never know when or where one might find you. Just another thing that makes the mouse magical!
