We are heading out on our first Disney Cruise in December. I am wondering if we need to take lanyards with us to keep our room keys in?

Welcome aboard, Melanie! Congratulations on booking your very first sailing with Disney Cruise Line! I cannot wait for your family to experience all of the magic that is in store with something for everyone in your family on your cruise!

Everyone in your group will receive their own Key To the World Card, which serves as your identification, stateroom key, and charge card for onboard purchases. First time guests do not receive a lanyard at check in, but guests who have sailed with Disney at least once before (Castaway Club members) will receive a Silver, Gold, or Platinum Castaway Club lanyard when they check in. Since this is your first cruise, and you won't be receiving a lanyard at check-in, you may want to pre-purchase a fun Disney lanyard from the Disney Store online before you sail. I know they usually have one Disney Cruise Line lanyard for sale on there, but there are also lots of other Disney character themed lanyards. However, if you can wait until the first night onboard when the gift shops open, you'll have lots of different Disney-themed lanyards to choose from there.

Either way, if you think you'd like to wear a lanyard to keep your Key To The World Card handy, you have lots of options to purchase one! Have fun as you get ready to set sail this December, Melanie!
