Heading to DW over Thanksgiving weekend. Managed to get (thanks to your suggestion to keep trying) 3 ADR at Tusker, Cali Grill, Candlelight Process.l/Nine Dragons. Can you suggest best character dining for 8 yr old girl not really into princesses any more?

I'm so glad you kept trying. Persistence really can pay off.

There are several fun non-princess character meals. The classic character meal is Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary (breakfast and dinner). Here you'll find the "fab five" (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto) and often Chip and Dale too. This is boisterous buffet with a very celebratory atmosphere.

Ohana at the Polynesian (breakfast) is another nice choice. Lilo and Stitch are here. They often lead children around the dining room in a parade or have some other entertainment like a hula hoop contest.

The Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club resort has a character breakfast with Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. This is one of the calmer character dining experiences. It has a slightly more "grown-up" feel to it. I find that it is a good choice for an older child who might think that she is getting "too old" for characters. I particularly like this meal for the large selection of fruit that they usually have on the buffet.

The Garden Grill dinner at Epcot has Mickey, Goofy, and others. This is a particularly cool place to dine because the entire restaurant revolves like a giant Lazy Susan. Throughout your meal, you travel around various scenes in the Living with the Land ride. My girls (ages 9 and 12) love this experience.

We'll be at WDW Thanksgiving Weekend too. Be sure to stop and say "hi" if you see me in the parks!
