Hi- I am heading down to WDW May 10th for a lond weekend. Celebrating our daughters 7th birthday. It also happens to be mothers day. What is the normal crowd level that time of year and on mothers day? Will we be warm? oh and YES we are super excited! TY

    Hi, Sheba!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

May is actually a great time for a trip to Walt Disney World! The weather is very pleasant, with an average daily temperature of 77 F, high of 88 F and low of 66 F. There's a wonderful annual special event, the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, which takes place through May 19th. Hopefully, you will have time over the long weekend to visit Epcot -- I highly recommend checking out the beautiful Disney character topiary and garden displays, Garden Marketplace food kiosks, live concerts and many more Festival offerings!

I have a 7-year-old daughter and we will also be visiting Walt Disney World over Mother's Day weekend. I checked the independent website TouringPlans.com, which is my go-to source for accurate crowd predictions. The research team that maintains the TouringPlans site also publishes the outstanding tour book, The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. They use algorithms and historical data to very reliably predict the crowd levels at each theme park on any given day of the year.

The good news for you is that the overall crowd levels for Mother's Day weekend are predicted to be a 5 out of 10, so really quite manageable. (By contrast, Memorial Day weekend can typically see the crowd levels shooting up to a 10 out of 10.) Specifically on Sunday, May 12th, Epcot is a recommended park to visit, while Hollywood Studios is a park to avoid. Both Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom are rated as "neutral" parks for Mother's Day.

Sending lots of pixie-dusted birthday wishes to your daughter from all of us here on the Moms Panel! Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you before your trip.
