We will be heading to Disneyworld from MO in a little over 2 weeks and the kids don't know yet. I'm looking for ideas for a unique, easy way to tell the kids we're coming so it will make a big impression.

Hi, Shelly!  You don't say how old your children are, so I'm not sure how many of my ideas will work, but we have surprised our girls a few times over the years.  Maybe some of our ideas will work for your family.

One thing we did that I loved was a scavenger hunt.  We told the girls there was something magical waiting for them at home, and we gave them each a small box with a written clue inside.  The clue led them to another location inside or house or in our backyard, until finally, they arrived at a box containing a helium balloon.  When they opened the box, the balloon floated upwards, and attached to it was a note that told the girls they were going to Disney World.

I have also made a story book for them in the past, and at the end of the storybook is the big reveal that they were going on the trip.  The littlest one can't read, but she was just as excited as her older sister, who read the story to her!

For one trip, I made sort of an advent calendar.  Each day for two weeks leading up to our trip, the girls got to open a small surprise.  The last day was an envelope containing a picture of our resort and a picture of our theme park ticket.

I hope however you choose to surprise your children, they are absolutely thrilled!  Make sure you have cameras at the ready!

    Have a great vacation!
