We are heading to Disney World next month and need to rent a scooter. Suggestions where to rent and easiest to get on and off bus?

    Hi Kathy!

Renting an scooter/Electronic Convenience Vehicle at the Walt Disney World resort has its advantages and conversely, its disadvantages. You are able to rent them for a cost of $70 per day with $20 refundable deposit. You can pick one up at the stroller/wheelchair rental area at each of the major theme parks and Downtown Disney (Wheelchairs are limited at the water parks, and  ECV's are not available for rent at the water parks). Should your ECV require maintenance during a park visit, you will be given one on the spot. Disadvantages include having to leave the scooter at the park gate; you cannot leave the theme parks with the rented scooter. All rental ECV's are set to slow speed, and it cannot be modified.

Your best bet would be to rent from an outside vendor such as Walker Mobility or Buena Vista Scooters. They will deliver the ECV to your resort room, and have pricing that covers length of stay. These ECV's can work with variable speed settings, and are great to have on hand at Disney's expansive resorts. You can check out their pricing by looking on their respective websites.

As for getting on and off the bus, that's easy!  There are always Cast Members situated at the bus depots, and they will guide you to the proper lanes for your resort.  Guests with scooters and wheelchairs board the buses first, and are the first off the bus as well, so no worries!

Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!
