We are headed for WDW next week for memorial day weekend and expect some rain. I'll bring ponchos, but my 13 year old daughter had her heart set on the water parks. Do these stay open in the rain? What about the resort (Contemporary) swimming pools?

The Disney pools and water parks do stay open in the rain. I have been at Typhoon Lagoon and in many of the Disney hotel pools during moderately heavy downpours. People just keep on swimming like nothing is happening.

However, I should warn you that the pools and water parks will close temporarily if there is lightening in the immediate area or if other more severe weather conditions exist. For example, in a quickly passing lightening storm, guests will be asked to vacate the water areas of the park. If things are moving quickly, it would be possible to get a snack and wait it out until the storm passes. In conditions of prolonged storm or strong winds, the water parks or pools might close for a more substantial amount of time.
