Hi. We're headed to food and wine next week and I am wondering if I can bring my own bamboo cutlery (fork, knife and spoon) through security. We're trying to eliminate single use plastics from our theme park trips. Thanks!

Hello, Maria! Oh boy! Your trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth is coming up in a few short days. How exciting!

First of all, I want to thank you for your thoughtfulness! Walt Disney once said, "conservation isn't just the business of a few people. It's a matter that concerns all of us." Last year the Disney Parks began an initiative to eliminate single-use plastic straws, and is currently transitioning to refillable in-room amenities in Disney owned hotels and cruise ships.

I spoke Walt Disney World Resort Guest Services today, and they said that while you'll need to leave the knife at home, you are more than welcome to bring your bamboo spoon and fork with you. Many Guests are also bringing in their own reusable straws, as well. I'm personally not a fan of the paper straws, so I picked up some Mickey Mouse reusable straws while I was in the Parks this summer. They also sell them on the shopDisney website (and they come with a cleaning brush).

With over 30 marketplace booths, you're also going to need to bring your appetite to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival this year! I don't know about you, Maria, but I'm so excited that the Spicy Hummus Fries are coming back to the Morocco booth. Make sure to pick up a free Marketplace Discovery Passport on your way into the festival. I love that they come with stickers that you can use to document where in the "World" you've eaten during your trip!

I hope this has given you some food for thought, Maria! Please write back if there's anything else you need before your trip. Bon appétit!
