We are headed to AKL Oct 24-28, staying club level. We plan on spending a lot of time at AK and at the AKL. What are some off-the-beaten path things to do in both of these places? Parents + 8 year old+ 2 year old. So far we have the Sunrise Safari. Thx!

Hi, Kim! I absolutely love your Walt Disney World vacation plans for October! I'm a huge fan of both Animal Kingdom Park and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge offers a broad range of recreational activities and special programs. When you check in at the resort, be sure to ask for the Monthly Activities calendar. Activities may include animal tracking; African games, crafts and face painting; and animal viewing with night vision goggles. Special evening programs include the Jambo House Campfire and African Storytelling near Ogun's Firepit.
There is a special dining experience that I highly recommend: Dine with an Animal Specialist at Sanaa. This is a really wonderful "off the beaten path" experience offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12:00 PM.

At Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, here are some attractions and activities which, in my opinion, would qualify as off-the-beaten path: (1) The Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki's Planet Watch where you'll find the Conservation Station and the Affection Section; (2) The Kids' Discovery Clubs are a great way for young Guests to learn about the natural world at hands-on learning stations around the park. Kids love getting their Discovery Club Passports stamped as they complete each activity; (3) Be sure not to miss DiVine, a mesmerizing "vine" come to life. Pick up a Times Guide as you enter the park for the schedule.

Wishing you a magical adventure, Kim! Please feel free to write me back with any other questions as you plan your visit.
